Writing Prompt for May
This month’s themed Open Mic was at least partially derived from a conversation that Mike Martinez had with author Wayne Allen Sallee not too long ago, about how writers tend to connect to music in general (and specific songs in particular) more than other folks do. Wayne took the conversation and developed his March 28th column for the shared blog Storytellers Unplugged (are you reading Storytellers Unplugged? you should be!); we’re taking the conversation and making it our writing prompt!
Is there a song that’s been going through your heads for years? Or one that keeps coming up whenever you write about a particular character or setting? Or maybe one that sent you rushing to the notebook, ideas a’buzzing like spring bees. We’d love to hear about it at our Twilight Tales Songbook themed open mic, coming up on 19May!
The normal open mic limits will apply, but if you find yourself inspired to write something longer (most people find 20min puts them at 3k words or thereabouts) you can start us off and then read the rest at the following regular open mic.

Thanks for the mention, Tina, as well as bringing up Storytellers Unplugged. Its a great site with a different writer posting each day, such as David Niall Wilson, Brian Hodge, John Rosenman, John Skipp, and John Sullivan. I promise to visit the Mix again soon.
